Well, we are well and truly back on track and into our little trip! Over the past 9 days we have done about 160 km over some pretty large hills climbing from seal level up to approximately 600m then back to 400m. There was some rough terrain, but it was very enjoyable riding!
From the Mowbray up the Bump track a friend of ours Megan joined us for the scenic ride up the hill! It was hard work for the horses but they managed well and had a well deserved short recovery ride the next day.
From Mount Molloy over to Mutchilba another friend Stirlo joined us for 5 days. He managed to borrow a horse (Thanks to Terry) 2 days before he joined us and bought a saddle the day before … Many funny times were had over the past 5 days and we enjoyed the company. We all very much enjoyed the navigation section from Dora Creek to Kingsborough – riding through the unmarked tracks, following brumby tracks (and we ran into a few brumbies along the way) made a very pleasant change from the bitumen work we had been doing.
We must thank Scott at the Mt Molloy Pub for holding our food drop for us, Bill for the paddock at Mt Molloy, Terry for the great info about the terrain across Dora Creek, Jenny Lott for all her help and info about the area and Ike for a camping spot at Kingsborough.
We are now resting for a couple of days, and hitting the trail again on Tuesday after a couple of minor adjustments!
